Exam / Module Repeats – Athlone

Options for Students who have failed Modules in Semester 1 or Semester 2

If you have not successfully completed modules in either Semester 1 or 2 (this includes final exam, continuous assessment, placement, project or practical element) you MUST APPLY to repeat in the August Repeat Exam Session – Semester 3. Repeat Exams are taking place between the 14th & 30th August 2024.

Please note the following:

• You can only apply to repeat for the August Exam session after the release of Semester 2 Results. A link will be made available on your Banner9 student account from the 14th of June.
• There is a Repeat Fee of €150, regardless of the number of modules you are sitting. Payment is due by the 31st of July 2024.
• For continuous assessment, placement, project & practical repeats please contact your Lecturer/Faculty for repeat information.
• It is important to attempt all outstanding modules during Semester 3 / August Repeats as this may have an impact on the opportunity to Progress & Carry into the next Academic Year.

Options for Students after Autumn Repeats (Semester 3)

If you have not successfully completed all of your modules by the end of your Academic Year, there are several options available to you:

1. Repeat and Attend (Retake)

2. Sit exams as an external candidate (Resit)

3. Progress and Carry

Due to Programmatic Review, your Carried Module/Repeat Module may not be running this year so it is important that you contact your Lecturer/Head of Department to ensure you have the relevant details to attempt the module.
