Higher Diploma in Agile Software (Level 8)
This Higher Diploma in Science in Agile Software Design is a conversion course for those who already have a Level 7 Qualification in ICT related discipline (engineering or software) or a Level 8 qualification in a non-engineering/ICT discipline, but not in Software Design. It is ideal for those who find their job has taken them towards software design and wish to formalise their knowledge with a recognised qualification.
Higher Diploma in Business Management (Level 8)
This one-year postgraduate programme is designed for the non business graduate. Aimed at providing business management skills for students who would have studied in other academic fields at undergraduate level. Students are encouraged to become an independent and innovative thinker with a sound understanding of theoretical issues and the ability to put these theories into practice. The programme provides a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills development facilitated through active learning approaches. The programme offers the skills to allow students convert from other disciplines into the business world or augment their existing qualifications to improve employment prospects.
Higher Diploma in Digital Marketing (Level 8)

This Masters Degree is aimed at learners interested in acquiring a highly practical Level 9 qualification in the area of Strategic Business Management and Marketing. Master of Science in Data Analytics
Data Analytics examines vast quantities of data, often called Big Data, to draw conclusions and insights about the information they contain. Some examples of Data Analytics applications include real-time fraud detection, complex competitive commercial analysis, website optimisation, intelligent air, road and other traffic management and consumer spending patterns.
Big Data presents three primary problems: there is too much data to handle easily; the speed of data flowing in and out makes it difficult to analyse; and the range and type of data sources are too great to assimilate. With the right analytics and techniques, these big data can deliver hidden and unhidden insights, patterns and relationships from multiple sources using Data Analytics techniques
The Technological University of Shannon has developed an industry-focused, contemporary masters programme that will equip graduates with the skills and aptitudes necessary to excel in the emerging field of Big Data and Data Analytics. Master of Engineering in Engineering Management
This programme is designed for those in technical management roles or aspiring to take on more management responsibility in an applied engineering setting. The course is designed to combine specialised engineering knowledge and skills with enhanced theory and practice in engineering management. The course has been designed by engineers, to develop engineering managers. It aims to meet the needs of a changing engineering environment and address critical management skills gaps in industry.
The Work Placement & Professional Practice included in this programme provides learners with a comprehensive experience of the working environment while deepening specialist skills relevant to the programme. The module responds to the requirements of industry and relevant professional bodies as it facilitates in-depth student induction, extended professional practice, and immersion in contextualized specialised technologies and techniques.
Master of Science in Biopharmaceutical Technology
The Master of Science in Biopharmaceutical Technology at TUS, builds on departmental expertise and strong links developed with industry. The programme was conceived in response to significant job opportunities within Ireland’s large and expanding biopharmaceutical sector.
As well as lectures and practical laboratory sessions at TUS and site visits to biopharmaceutical companies, students on the MSc will have the opportunity to undertake a practical training at the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research & Training (NIBRT) in Dublin. NIBRT is a replica of a functional bioprocessing plant, equipped with all the manufacturing equipment you would expect to find
in a modern bioprocessing facility (for example, upstream, downstream, fill-finish and bioanalytical facilities). The NIBRT training will allow students to gain hands-on experience of the processes involved in biopharmaceutical production.
Master of Science in Nursing in Leadership and Quality Healthcare
The Master of Science in Nursing in Leadership and Quality Healthcare aims to enhance graduate nurses’ competencies, attitudes, and skills with which to function effectively as healthcare leaders within the health care environment. It provides an opportunity for professional development through supporting and facilitating the comprehension, application and analysis of knowledge, clinical managerial expertise, and skills in the development of quality healthcare. The provision of evidence-based knowledge is aimed at supporting a quality evidenced based practice whilst recognising the reciprocal relationship between theory, practice, research and knowledge development.
Master of Science in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Analysis
The Master of Science in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Analysis at TUS was designed in response to the significant job opportunities for Analytical Chemists in the Pharma/Biopharma/Chemical sector in Ireland. The programme builds on the extensive expertise of academic staff at TUS and enhances the provision of state-of-the-art modern analytical facilities to support the pharmaceutical, biopharma and chemical industries. The programme also utilizes and enhances our strong links with the growing pharmaceutical industry in the Midlands Midwest hinterland.
This interdisciplinary MSc programme is designed to provide graduates with industry informed expert knowledge, in addition to developing and honing analytical skills through engaging with a wide range of experimental focused modules and research projects. The graduate will also be supported to develop highly sought after graduate transversal skills such as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, communication, problem solving and critical analysis. Opportunities to engage with industry will be provided via Industry site visits, guest lectures and workshops.
Master of Science in Process Validation and Regulatory Affairs
Many companies operate in highly regulated areas where the demand for dynamic validation engineers, effective quality management systems and regulatory compliance leaders is growing.
The aim of the Level 9 Taught Masters of Science in Process Validation and Regulatory Affairs is to equip learners with competence in the appropriate legal, compliance and industry operational standards.
The programme will enable understanding of all current applicable regulations, quality management systems and effective process validation requirements. Learners will have the knowledge and skills to be able to audit all, or part of, organisation’s formal Quality Management systems. Acquire the ability to objectively evaluate evidence generated by systems and processes against clearly defined criteria and determine the effectiveness of these systems and processes; ensuring that learners will develop skills to address and prepare for the ever-changing environment of regulatory affairs in medical device, pharmaceutical and food and drink sectors
Master of Science in Product Design Control
The majority of companies today operate in highly regulated and changeable industries. At the same time, they are adapting to customer needs, promoting innovation, regulatory requirements and staying competitive. Due to these challenges products today are continually changing, e.g. make it lighter, smaller, faster, and smarter. This has increased the demand for graduates working in product development, such as engineers, scientists, product and project managers, quality, risk management and regulatory compliance leaders. Learners will have the knowledge and skills to manage and contribute to each stage of the design, development, verification/validation, transferring the design to production and finally, maintaining the product while meeting quality and regulatory standards. Alongside understanding the importance and role of risk management through each stage of the design development process. The programme will develop the learners’ skills to address and prepare for the ever-changing environment of Product Design Control in sectors such as Medical Devices, Pharmaceutical, Automation, Automotive, Food and Drink.
Master of Science in Quantity Surveying
The MSc in Quantity Surveying satisfies the educational requirements to become a chartered quantity surveyor within one year. There is a constant demand for quantity surveying services in both Ireland and globally as clients seek to achieve a more sustainable and economically efficient built environment. Increasingly, quantity surveyors are used in many wide and diverse client support roles where they offer strategic advice in areas such as economics, law, technology, capital allowances and taxation. This diversity of roles combines to create a sustainable demand for the specialist expertise of the quantity surveyor. TUS’s postgraduate qualifications in Quantity Surveying are the only courses of their type outside of Dublin.
Master of Science in Software Design with Artificial Intelligence
As computers become smarter Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making strides in simulating human thinking. Creating computer systems that automatically improve with experience has many applications including robotic control, data mining, autonomous navigation, and bioinformatics.
This course provides a broad introduction to machine learning and statistical pattern recognition. Students will learn about supervised and unsupervised learning, learning theory, reinforcement learning and control.
Software development is an enormous growth area in ICT engineering. Over 900 software companies are currently in operation in Ireland employing more than 24,000 people. Ireland’s reputation as a centre of software excellence is unrivalled in Europe. It is home to multinational and indigenous firms generating €16 billion of exports annually.

Master of Science in Software Design with Cyber Security
The course will provide students with both theoretical and practical skills to understand and respond to computer security threats in the modern enterprise. It will arm them with a broad range of competencies to successfully engage in many different security career roles in the enterprise. Students will be given a comprehensive insight of the role and practice of security in the enterprise that will enable them to holistically understand the security context and to relate the security processes and lifecycle to the business activities of the organisation and to hence identify and prioritize security activities.
This activity will be supported by developing key security technology competencies in the student cohort. The course will provide a student with a thorough introduction to cryptography developing an understanding of cryptographic algorithms and mechanism. This will, in turn, inform the development of skills in the key areas of network security and computer security – the combination of which provides the security bedrock for the enterprise information technology infrastructure on which the enterprise conducts its business.

Master of Arts in Fine Art
Our new practice-based MA in Fine Art is ground-breaking within its field; it positions learning in relation to a broad range of infrastructures, supports and external centres of connectivity that will in turn scaffold students’ professional practice on completion. This MA in Fine Art will enable postgraduate students drawn from the fields of fine art, cultural production, and creative thinking to establish links and a commonality between their art-based research and complementary research carried out within the cultural infrastructures of art, film, theatre and design, and within broader research in fields of science, technology, and social sciences.
This exciting Masters in Fine Art programme encourages and promotes the discovery of the individual artistic language of every student and where to site their professional artistic practice. The focus is on the core concerns of art practice in the real world, residencies, exhibitions, funding, partnerships, and application processes.
